McCarthy/Kennicott Tours From Chitina
8.5 Hour Tour: $99 per person Choose a morning or afternoon departure
Departs from Chitina Hote at 7:30 am (12:00 pm).
Travel the McCarthy Road with a knowledgable driver/guide and enjoy many
stops along the way for sightseeing, picture taking and stretching the legs.
Arrives at Root Glacier Base Camp at 10:00 am (2:30 pm).
From here your guide will take you across the Kennicott River on foot and then
into the towns of McCarthy and Kennicott by van.
Includes a stop at the McCarthy-Kennicott Historical Museum and some free
time to relax and explore on your own.
Return trip arrives back in Chitina around 4:00 pm (8:00 pm).
Meals are not included in the tour cost.
Add a flightseeing trip or guided walk to your visit. This is a great way to
spend the afternoon.
McCarthy Road Day Trip
Travel the famous McCarthy Road to McCarthy and Kennicott in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. This 10-hour day tour begins and ends at the Chitina Airstrip, near Chitina. From Chitina, you will see the Copper River bridge, home of the famous Copper River Red Salmon, and fishwheels turning.
View and photograph the Kuskalana Bridge, the Gilahina Trestle, and other relics from the historic Copper River Northwestern Railway.
Arrive at McCarthy at 11:00 am. Then you can enjoy 5 and 1/2 hours of free time to explore McCarthy and Kennicott on your own or join an additional tour.
The return trip departs McCarthy Footbridge at 4:30 pm. Daily departures. $109 per person.
 12.5 Hour Tour: $129 per person
If you are going to go hiking or explore the glacier, consider our full 12.5 hour
tour, which gives you the maximum time to enjoy your one-day visit to this
spectacular area!
Departs from the Chitina Hotel at 7:30 am (Returns at 8:00 pm).
Travel the McCarthy Road with a knowledgable driver/guide and enjoy many

Fly-Drive Glacier Tour
This is a full day tour to McCarthy and Kennicott from Chitina.
Meet your pilot at the Chitina Airstrip (the end of the paved-road) at 8:30 am for a stunning flight-seeing trip above glaciers of the Wrangells. After your arrival at the McCarthy airstrip, you'll enjoy personal tour service in McCarthy and Kennicott, with stop at the historical museum, and a journey to the Kennicott National Historic Landmark. From Main Street in Kennicott, walk with a guide two miles on an easy trail to the white ice of the Root Glacier.
Strap on crampons (metal spikes for your shoes) and traverse the Root Glacier with an experienced guide. See and photograph the glacier's mysterious ice formations, cascading waterfalls, unusal blue water pools, and other fascinating features. You'll even have a picnic lunch on the trip. No experience is neccessary!
After the glacier tour, you'll be transferred to Root Glacier Base Camp at the end of the McCarthy Road for a shuttle on the McCarthy Road to Chitina.

 McCarthy-Kennicott Drive/Fly Day Tour 
This is a full day tour to McCarthy and Kennicott from the Copper River Valley (Glennallen or Copper Center).
Available on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays only.
The tour begins at 8:00 am with a van shuttle into McCarthy via the McCarthy Road. After your arrival at McCarthy, you'll enjoy a picturesque picnic lunch at the Root Glacier Base Camp, with a stunning view of the Stairway Icefall. Then enjoy custom tour service in McCarthy and Kennicott as you travel to town, stop at the historical museum, and journey to the Kennicott National Historic Landmark for a tour inside the largest building, the historic Kennicott Copper Mill.
After the walking tour, you'll be transferred to Copper Valley Air at the McCarthy Airstrip for a spectacular flightseeing tour to the Gulkana Airport near Glennallen.
